( 4th -31st October 2013) London
This three-week exhibition, presented at Asia House, is focused on Taoism – a philosophy and religious belief that originated in China over 2,000 years ago.
Taoism, also referred to as Daoism (a more accurate way of representing in English the sound of the Chinese word) is about the Tao. This complex word is usually translated as the Way . The Tao is the ultimate creative principle of the universe where all things are unified and connected.
This special exhibition includes pictures, objects, instruments and a selection of treasures from Beijing’s Baiyun (White Cloud) temple art collection rarely seen in the UK. Find out about the history of Taoism, its impact on ancient science and technology and the attractions and palaces dedicated to its practice. Understand the deities and saints, temples and sacred sites, the history of Taoism, and the Taoist way of life including rites and ceremonies, self-cultivation and charitable acts.
