London Mela

It’s been ten years since London’s first ever London Mela took place in 2003. An established highlight in the capital’s cultural calendar, the London Mela is an artistically led celebration of Asian culture and creativity, inspired by South Asia and the Diaspora. The Mela is supported by the Mayor of London and produced by Ealing Council.

This year’s London Mela saw several artists like the King of Qawwali Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to British-Indian record artist Bally Sagoo. The London Mela was a true representation of London’s multicultural fabric. Some snapshots from the event.

The London Mela is reinventing mela outside South Asia. It is one of the only melas in the country which commissions new work, and provides a platform for emerging British artists whilst bringing traditional and classical art forms to a wider audience.
