British Library curators will discuss the fine Buddhist manuscripts from Burma and Thailand currently on display, as well as showing rarely-seen treasures from the Library’s important collections from Southeast Asia. Highlights will include sumptuously illustrated Thai and Burmese folding books and lacquered palm leaf manuscripts, Javanese manuscripts illustrated in the style of the shadow puppet theatre, and illuminated royal Malay letters from the Muslim courts of the archipelago.
