Celebrating 21 years of production, the Imperial College Indian Society (ICIS) is once again set to stage their annual charity show, East Meets West.
Dating back to 1992, East Meets West has since become ICIS’s most popular event of the year. A cultural performance filled with tradition and dance, it is the longest running student show in the UK. This year the show is boasted to be the “most outrageous and extravagant” of all the 21 shows to date. The audience will “marvel at the breathtaking spectacle of a fusion of Eastern tradition with Western culture, brought to life by a variety of acts from Funkology to Bharatanatyam to Wushu.” It is an experience shared not only with the audience but the performers as well.
The event has been previously held in some of London’s most prestigious theatres including: the Shaftesbury Theatre, the London Palladium, and her Majesty’s theatre. This year’s production, set to be presented at the Phoenix Theatre on Sunday, February 17, 2013, is no different. Notably, for the past 21 years, East Meets West has also raised funds for worthwhile causes. This year they are dedicating their production to the Cardiomyopathy Association and Calcutta AHEAD. Tickets are available online here.
Known as one of the largest multicultural societies in the UK, the Imperial College Indian Society welcomes students from all backgrounds to promote and preserve the Indian culture in the UK. Holding many more events throughout the year, the ICIS aims to develop a diverse community through cultural bonding.
