The Iranian music ensemble Ahoura and the Persian classical dancer Ziba Tabrizi will present a fusion of traditional Persian music, dance, and poetry in an event which explores the significance of love in these three aspects of Persian art, as part of Asia House’s “Love and Marriage Series”.
The programme will comprise four of Ahoura’s compositions, evoking joy, love and passion, with the central piece being the song Asheghan. Composed by the tar player Behnam Alipour, this song invites the listeners to seek true love and happiness and to aspire to a heavenly love with the words ‘asheghan senaha chak bayed kard’ (‘lovers must open up their hearts’).
Ahoura are in regular demand for Iranian cultural events and have recently played for the Iran’s Children’s Charity, the Laila Salehzahi Charity, London Persian Radio and the Colet House Puja Festival. Ziba Tabrizi works closely with Ahoura and has performed for high-profile organisations including the British Museum, the Iran Heritage Foundation, Magic of Persia and Afghanaid.
