As the son of two mathematicians, it was perhaps inevitable that Suraj Sharma would be picked for the coveted titular role in Ang Lee’s upcoming 3D blockbuster, ‘Life of Pi, the story of a shipwrecked boy trapped on a boat with some less than savoury animal companions. This is Suraj’s cinematic debut, and in fact, his first ever acting experience. He now sits poised on the cusp of global fame, with talk of Oscars and international awards swirling around him. AGI spoke to Suraj to find out what it’s really like to work with a cinematic icon, tackle CGI, and survive making your first movie.
