After four years of nurturing the young designer brand ‘Derek Lam’, Labelux has sold their majority stake in the label back to its rightful owners, fashion designer Derek Lam and his CEO Jan-Hendrick Schlottmann.
abelux, the London based Swiss luxury group , was created in 2007 to benefit and support the growth of brands in the luxury industry. One year after its own birth, Labelux acquired Derek Lam International, LLC, in 2008, only five years after the label was born. Under the Labelux management, Derek Lam became a global brand, recognized not only for its clothing but also for the accessories range – shoes, handbags, eyewear, and a diffusion line, 10 Crosby Derek Lam.
Now, since Labelux’s CEO, Reinhard Mieck has announced their new strategic plan to shift their attention to luxury goods and footwear, they have sold back their majority stake to Lam and Schlottmann. As the rightful owner and designer of the Derek Lam brand, Lam says,
“We would like to thank Labelux for its support and strategic guidance over the last 4 years, allowing the Company to develop and affirm its position as a leading fashion brand in the global luxury market. Now, we look forward to our continued growth and to the many exciting possibilities ahead of us.”
Many possibilities ahead is a fact, especially since Lam has also partnered up with Kohl’s on the DesigNation collection that will be coming out next spring. With the Derek Lam label back into the hands of Derek Lam, the possibilities are endless.
