London Foodie’s Guide to ‘Fish in a Tie’

Just a short train ride from Victoria – five minutes to be precise – lies a hidden gem tucked behind Clapham Junction Station. Here at ‘Fish in a Tie’ you can expect three things: delicious food, charming decor and great value for money.

f you decide to visit on the weekend make sure you book in advance as this secret is well known amongst the savvy foodies. The menu is so vast that you will be spoilt for choice. Along with the daily specials, al la carte menu, there is also set menu which starts at £10 for two courses. This is practically unheard of in London unless you have found it on some TopTable offer.

The mussels I had for starters were big and juicy, with a sauce so tasty that I asked for a spoon so I could drink as a soup. For my main, the lamb certainly didn’t disappoint. Cooked to perfect, the meat was wonderfully tender and complimented beautifully by the sage and lemon sauce. The portions might look small and Atkins friendly but don’t be fooled. The rich sauces will leave even the hungriest satisfied.

No matter what you have, do your sweet tooth a favour save room for dessert. With daily specials to choose from as well as regular favourites such as Banoffee Pie I plumped for the irresistible profiteroles with a side of vanilla ice cream. Quite simply, a perfect end to a perfect meal.
